Dr Emma Dawes
Emma is a Haematologist with a special interest in women’s health and obstetric haematology. She is passionate about providing thoughtful, individualised care and supporting her patients through every stage of their health journey.
Graduating with Honours from the University of Western Australia in 2011, Emma completed her Basic Physician Training in Melbourne, before undertaking dual specialty training in Clinical and Laboratory Haematology, achieving Fellowship in 2021. She currently works at Melbourne Pathology and the Royal Women’s Hospital, and is actively involved in teaching haematology trainees, obstetric medicine fellows, obstetricians, gynaecologists and midwives.
Emma has a particular interest in non-malignant haematology, especially conditions affecting women during pregnancy and gynaecological health. She cares for patients with anaemia and other low blood counts, bleeding and clotting disorders, red blood cell antibodies affecting pregnancy, and inherited conditions such as thalassaemia.
Emma’s practice is underpinned by her caring nature, dedication and a strong emphasis on collaborative, compassionate care.
Outside of work, Emma enjoys the beautiful chaos of family life with her three young children, as well as cooking and travelling.
